🌿 Spring Cleanse: A Gentle Ayurvedic Reset for the Season of Renewal 🌿

As nature begins to thaw and bloom, our bodies also crave a reset. In Ayurveda, spring is the season of Kapha, characterized by heaviness, moisture, and stagnation. After the grounding qualities of winter, this is the ideal time to lighten up, energize the digestive fire, and let go—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

But I’m not talking about juice fasts or punishing detoxes.

A spring cleanse, done the Ayurvedic way, is nourishing, grounding, and sustainable. It’s about simplifying what you eat, supporting digestion, and syncing with the natural rhythms of the season. You might be surprised how quickly your energy lifts, your skin glows, and your mind clears—just by giving your body the right foods and practices.

Here are a few ways to begin your gentle spring reset:

🌸 Simplify Your Meals Think warm, easy-to-digest dishes like kitchari, lightly spiced vegetable soups, and steamed greens. Skip cold smoothies or raw salads for now—your agni (digestive fire) is still waking up from winter.

🌸 Sip CCF Tea A classic Ayurvedic blend of cumin, coriander, and fennel, this tea gently detoxifies and supports your liver and lymphatic system. I keep a thermos nearby all day during my cleanse.

🌸 Move Daily Choose movement that feels invigorating but not depleting—brisk walks, yoga, or dancing in your kitchen (yes, that counts!).

🌸 Declutter Cleansing isn’t just physical. Spring is the perfect time to open windows, sort out your pantry, or let go of something that’s been weighing you down.

🌸 Breathe + Reflect Each morning, try a few rounds of kapalabhati breathwork (see below) or just sit quietly with warm lemon water. Ask: What am I ready to release? What would I like to invite in this season?

💨 What Is Kapalabhati Breath?

Kapalabhati means "shining skull" in Sanskrit—referring to the clarity and brightness it brings to the mind and forehead region.

It’s a cleansing breath (a shat kriya) that involves short, strong exhalations and passive inhalations. It works by rapidly pumping the belly to expel air and toxins from the lungs, stimulating digestion, circulation, and mental alertness.

⚙️ How to Do Kapalabhati (Beginner-Friendly)

  1. Sit Comfortably Sit in a cross-legged position or on a chair with a straight spine.

  2. Take a Deep Breath In Then exhale fully to prepare.

  3. Begin Short, Sharp Exhales Inhale naturally (passive), then forcefully exhale by snapping your belly in. The inhale happens automatically. Aim for 20–30 exhales per round.

  4. Rest Between Rounds After 1 round, return to normal breathing and observe. You can do 2–3 rounds.

⚠️ Cautions

Avoid if you’re pregnant, have high blood pressure, hernia, or recent abdominal surgery. Stop if it feels too much for you.

Start slow (1 round of 20 breaths) and work up gradually.

🌟 Ayurvedic Benefits of Kapalabhati

Stimulates Agni (digestive fire), helping clear sluggishness and Kapha buildup

Cleanses the lungs and sinuses—great for spring detox.

Energizes the body and clears mental fog

Balances Kapha and supports weight loss when done consistently.

It’s like a cup of coffee without the crash—perfect for spring mornings during a cleanse.

You don’t have to do it all. Even a few days of focused, intentional living can bring surprising clarity and lightness. If you're curious about trying a guided Ayurvedic cleanse this spring, I’ve put together a simple plan to help you feel refreshed and realigned. It will be released on April 22 but you can join the list now for early bird pricing.

Let’s embrace the season of renewal—gently, intentionally, and deliciously. 🌱
